 분사구문 쓰는 이유?  반복과 쓸데없는 말을 줄여 간결하게 말하기 위해!

 

분사구문의 형태

 

접속사 + S + V(종속절)(부사절) , S+ V(주절) 

접속사 + S + V는 부사절로 문장에 부가적인 의미를 더한다. 

종속절 - 분사구문으로 바꿈(접/주/시 를 생략함으로써!)

 

When I eat lunch, I always watch Netflix.

이 문장은 너무 길다 그냥 나 점심 먹을때, 넷플 봐. 이렇게 고치기!

 

분사구문 만들기

 

1. 접속사 생략 

I eat lunch, I always watch Netflix.

2. 주어 생략 : 종속절 주어 = 주절 주어 

Eat lunch, I always watch Netflix.

3. 시제 체크 :

- 종속절 V = 주절 V 이면, 종속절V를 동사원형+-ing 으로 고친다.

- 동사가 부정형이면 not , never + 동사원형+-ing 

- being  생략

- 현재형과 미래형은 같은시제로 봄

Eating lunch, I alwayas watch Netflix

 

분사구문 구별

- 문장 앞이나 뒤에 Ving, PP 가 오면 분사구문이다 라는 것을 눈치챌 수 있어야 한다. 

일반문장 - I can relax now, because I know that she got home safely.

분사구문으로 고침!- I can relax now, knowing that she got home safely.

- 문장 중간에도 옴

My computer, making static sound, broke down.

 

분사구문 해석

* 분사구문은 접속사가 없어도 있는 것처럼 해석해야 한다. 

- 분사구문에서 생략되는 접속사 대부분은 시간접속사 혹은 부대상황접속사(동시에 일어나는 상황) - while, as , when,, and,, 

- 보통 해석을 ~인 채로, ~하면서 라고 하는 경우가 많다. 

- 예외 ) because, if, even though 같은 접속사도 분사구문으로 바꿔쓸 때가 있으니 이때 유의해야한다. 

 

시간접속사 when, while, as , after, before

I was studying, I almost fell asleep

주어 같으니 생락, 

was studying, I almost fell asleep

시제 - 둘다 과거형으로 같음, being 생략

(Being)Studying, I almost fell asleep

 

부대상황접속사  and, as , while

- 상황이 동시에 일어나거나 바로 전후에 일어나는 경우

You never clean up the kitchen table while you are cooking the food

접, 주생략, 시제 체크, being생략

You never clean up the kitchen table , cooking the food.

 

이유접속사  because, since, as

He couldn't join us, since he was ill

He couldn't join us, being ill

 

양보접속사  though, even though, although, even if

- 주절과 종속절이 서로 반대됨

Even though he is a doctor, He doesn't sound smart at all

Being a doctor, he doesn't sound smart at all.

 

조건접속사  if

If you put yourself in their shoes, you will understand them

Putting yourself in their shoes, you will understand them.

 

 

PP분사구문

- 보통은 수동태를 분사구문으로 고칠 때 쓰인다. be PP수동태에서 being PP로, 생략되면서 PP로 

Because he was always scolded by his teacher, he didn't like going to school

Always  scolded by his teacher, he didn't like going to school

 

 

예외1. 접속사를 생략하지 않는 경우

화자가 접속사의 의미는 정확하게 전달하고 싶을 때 접속사를 그대로 쓴다. 

While working out, students can stay fit

 

예외2. 주절 주어와 종속절 주어가 다른 경우

- 생략하지 않지만, 예외적으로 생략하는 경우도 있음!

1. 생략하지 않는 경우 - 독립분사구문

As there is food left in the refrigerator, we can survive.

->  there is food left in the refrigerator, we can survive.

=> With food left in the efrigerator, we can survive. 어감을 자연스럽게 하기 위해 전명구 처리

 

2. 생략하는 경우

Frankly speaking (솔직히 말해서)

Generally speaking

Given that S+ V (S가 V라는 점을 생각할 때)

Considering that S+V (S가 V라는 점을 고려할 때)

Taking everything into consideration., 

 

예외3. 동사의 시제가 서로 다른 경우

- Ving대신 having PP를 사용한다. having been 또한 being처럼 생략가능

Even though I was born into riches I now find myself in poverty/

=> Born into riches, I now find myself in poverty
