[ 영어 문법 기초 ] 비교급, 최상급 , 원급 , 비교구문 총정리

비교는 2개의 사물에서 공통점과 차이점을 찾는 것. 그려려면 속성이 비슷해야한다. 

영어에서 비교의 세가지 종류

- 원급, 비교급, 최상급으로 나눌 수 있다.  = , ><, 업다운

= 동등비교	>< 비교급	업다운 최상급
~만큼	~보다 더 , ~보다 덜	~가 최고 , ~가 최저
- A는 B만큼 예쁘다	- A가 B보다 예쁘다	- ~중에 A가 가장 예쁘다.

 

1. = 동등비교 : ~만큼

- A는 B만큼 예쁘다

as~as~ 구문

I am as rich as he.

이때 구어체에서는 편의상 as him으로 바꾸어준다.

I am as rich as him.

She is as beautiful she was. 그녀는 과거만큼이나 지금도 예쁘다. 

 

not as~as~ 구문

- 더이상 둘 정도가 같지 않다는 의미

He is not as dumb as he looks.

 

배수사 as~as~ 구문 : B보다 ~배 하다

You sleeps twice as long as I do.

 

as long as,~만큼 오래

as well as : ~만큼 잘

as much as ~만큼 많이

as soon as ~만큼 빠르게/ ~하자마자

 

2. >< :비교급,  ~보다 더 , ~보다 덜

- er, 혹은 more+형용사로 표현

*비교급을 강조하는 부사로 even much till a lot far 등을 쓸 수 있다. 

- much more expensive, even hotter

 

[er , more 차이] - 음절 =. 모음의 개수

1. -er : 2음절 이하의 형용사 - nicer, smaller, longer, uglier, prettier, bigger

2. more : 3음절 이상의 형용사, 형용사형어미 형용사(ous, ble, ful, some, ly), 분사가 붙은 형용사

The truth is more important than the facts.

Covid is more contagious than MERS.

YT videos are far more interesting than entertain shows on TV

 

3. 예외적인 새로운 형태의 비교급

 

1- better, worse, more, less

 

2- -or 

- 단어 자체가 비교급인 형용사들은 비교 대상앞에 than 이 아닌 to를 붙인다. 

senior - junior, major-minor, superior-inferior, exterior-interior

Don't act superior to other people

he is four years my senior  그는 나보다 4살 연상이다. (딱딱한 표현, older than 을 쓰는게 자연스럽다)

 

3- 관용 표현

The earlier the better 이르면 이를수록 더 좋다. 

As you get older, you will be busier and busier

I fell none the better for seeing doctor, 한다고 더 좋아지지 않는다.

She is more like guru rather than teacher.그녀는 선생님이라기보단 스승이야

 

 

3. 업다운 : 최상급 : ~가 최고 , ~가 최저

the -est, the most

The cello is the sexiest instrument

She is the most interesting girl I've ever met

 

예외 - best, worst, most, 

*best는 the를 쓰지 않음 (부사의 최상급은 the 쓰지 않는다)

스스로가 비교 대상인경우

You seem to be happiest when you eat

You look the happiest in this picture (다른사람과 비교)

 

a most (아주 ~한)** the most (가장 ~한)아님

I had a most delightful time

 

최상급 강조할때 '가장최고의'라는 의미의 강조부사 사용

By far the best proof is experience.

 He is the very best cook who appeared on the cooking show.
